Mixed Tape
Before playlists, streaming services, and instant downloads, there was the mixtape.
Making one was an art form all its own. You carefully selected the songs, arranged them in just the right order, and sometimes spent hours recording them onto a cassette. Every song meant something. Every choice was intentional.
And when you gave that tape to someone, you were sharing a little piece of yourself.
Mixed Tape celebrates that wonderfully personal tradition of communicating through music.
A vintage cassette takes center stage against an expressive background of vibrant blues, purples, and greens. Handwritten words, playful marks, and layered textures recall the homemade cassette covers, doodles, and little messages that made every mixtape unique.
Inspired by memories of young love, friendship, and the music we shared, this painting captures a time when saying “I made you a tape” could mean so much more than the words themselves.
Part of my Music & Memories collection, this original mixed-media artwork explores the ways music connects us to people and moments from our past.
Because sometimes the songs we chose for someone said everything we couldn't quite put into words.
